Do All Married People Think About Divorce?

July 07, 2015

When people get married they typically picture a long and happy life together. No one really ever thinks about divorce when they first get married. Likewise, while many marriages do end in divorce, most people usually believe that that scenario will will never happen to them. However, with nearly half of all marriages ending prematurely, it’s clear that many relationships don’t survive the tests of time. Almost all couples, no matter how successful they are, experience some bumps in the road. However, that doesn’t mean a marriage will end up in divorce. On the other hand, just because a marriage is successful, that doesn’t mean that either spouse will never contemplate divorce.

According to one psychologist and relationship coach, thinking about divorce on occasion is very common for most married couples. All couples are different and some people treat thoughts of divorce as very serious, while others take a much more light-hearted approach to the subject of divorce. However, according to this same psychologist, even if your thoughts of divorce occur on a whim, it could be a sign that something is amiss in your marriage, which means you might need to seek some marriage counseling or other relationship help.

On the other hand, if you find that you spend a lot of time thinking about divorce and you feel as though your marriage is in serious trouble then it might be time to speak with a divorce attorney as well. People who are seriously contemplating divorce have a lot on their mind and they will have many important issues to consider, which is why it’s so important to seek the right help. If you still feel like you can save your marriage, and you want to try, then you should probably still seek some professional marriage counseling. On the other hand, if you are ready to move on and feel that divorce is the right answer, then speaking with a Fort Wayne divorce lawyer should be one of your first moves.
