What happens if you get involved in some kind of altercation with another person or persons? Maybe during this altercation things get really heated and you come to blows. Perhaps the other party involved claims that you were the aggressor, but in reality you feel like you were only trying to defend yourself. This is exactly the kind of situation that happens all the time. That is why when someone is charged with a crime like assault or battery, he or she should get legal help. There are two sides to every story and it’s important that your side be told.
Authorities in Muncie have arrested a man after they say he allegedly forced his way into an elderly man’s house and beat the man up. Officials say the 33-year-old man has been charged with residential entry and battery with moderate bodily injury, after he reportedly beat his ex-girlfriend’s grandfather. According to reports, the man entered the home to confront his former girlfriend and that’s when the situation got heated. Authorities say that the girl’s grandfather and the former boyfriend began exchanging blows. The grandfather was injured in the incident, as he suffered a broken leg during the struggle.
According to reports, the elderly man was taken to the hospital for treatment for his broken leg. He also reportedly suffered a punch to the eye in the altercation. Investigators later arrested the man in question after he had left the scene. While it could appear as though this man is guilty of the charges, it also appears that the grandfather could have played a significant role in the altercation as well. It is possible that he could have initiated contact with the defendant and that the younger man was only trying to defend himself. These kinds of incidents happen every day and they are not always cut and dry.
This is the kind of situation that calls for the help of an experienced criminal defense attorney.
